Daufuskie Island (USA)

Daufuskie Island, a small island near the more famous Hilton Head peninsula, is peaceful. Time seems to stand still as soon as you arrive by ferry. There are no cars; instead, everyone gets around in golf carts. There aren't many public buildings. This relaxed and intimate atmosphere was perfect for us to recharge. The people on Daufuskie Island are incredibly helpful and welcoming. Alex's relatives gave us a very warm welcome, and we were able to explore the island at our leisure. We also learned about the unique local history and culture and enjoyed a whisky tasting. As you've probably come to know us by now, we also made sure to get some exercise. We discovered cornhole, and Lovis had his only tennis lesson of the entire trip. At night, we were treated to typical Southern thunderstorms, and during the day, armadillos and dolphins frolic right outside our door.
